Negative Reviews Could Cost Your Business $300,000February 11, 2014
Christopher Dietz is suing Jane Perez for $750,000 after she posted critical comments about Dietz home contracting company on Yelp and Angie’s list. Dietz claims Perez’s words were false and hurt his reputation costing his company $300,000 in lost revenue.
In the August 2012 review, Perez claimed Deitz caused lasting damage to her home and added that some of her jewelry had gone missing during the construction process.
Many negative reviews go unnoticed by companies and have the potential to damage their reputation. A spokeswoman for Yelp informs “businesses that choose to sue their customers to silence them rather than address their comments, rarely prevail and often bring additional unwanted attention to the original criticism.”
